Open 9:30am - 5pm, 7 days a week

At Lincolnshire Wildlife Park, we do often have vacancies for Volunteers to come and work alongside our current Zoo Keepers in maintaining the enclosures to gain valuable experience working with animals. If you are studying for a career within the animal management, care or veterinary sector and would like some practical experience, then we may be able to offer a positive start for you.

What is Involved?

Working with animals can be very physically demanding and will involve a high volume of cleanliness & manual labour when clearing, re-bedding and maintaining enclosures. You will be expected to assist our keepers with enclosure & aviary cleaning, general park duties, food preparation & occasional interaction with sick or injured birds or animals. Work experience at Lincolnshire Wildlife Park will mainly include working within The Parrot Zoo Trust charity, assisting with the husbandry of birds and parrots.

What is expected from you?

As mentioned, working with birds and animals is very physically demanding, therefore you will need to be fit and active with a positive mental attitude towards work. We are looking for enthusiastic individuals who are keen to learn & confident with public interaction. This is important as we are an attraction for visitors and you may be required to speak with them, especially when maintaining our Walk-Through aviary environment. You will not be handling and cuddling animals on a daily basis, this position is to gain practical day-to-day experience; and you will be expected to respect the animals and current staff members at all times. Individuals must be confident with animals and birds alike, we house over 1000 parrots, therefore you will need to confidently enter aviaries during your time with us.

Please email: sophie@lincswildlife.com for any volunteering, internship or work experience enquiries, and include any course information and desired dates/time scale for us to be able to check availability. You will be required to attend an interview with our animal manager before being accepted for a placement.
