Walkthro—GONE!!!

What a strange feeling, when you see your most popular enclosure being emptied and dismantled, yes our now famous Walk-thro aviary is being taken down and relocated, all the birds are now in their temp living accommodation and have settled in very well. Its no mean fete taking the structure down though and you only realised how good it had been put up when you start to take it down, theres just short of a mile of mesh to unclip fold and scrap, over 10,000 u-clips to take out 3 housing units, 50 ton of drainage gravel, one large waterfall, 60 roofing sheets and 4 doors and 30 telegraph poles, so all in all quite lot; 19,140 cubic feet to be precise.

So is that it? Not a chance, it is being replaced by a more modern design, one which measures a staggering 154,000 cubic feet, or MASSIVE, in laymen terms and so the birds and the visitors will have a whopping 8 times more space, there is a wonderful water feature with a waterfall running into it and many areas for the birds to have privacy should they need it and lots of areas for you to take a break and have a seat while taking it all in. No doubt the first reaction will be ‘wheres all the birds’? well they will all be in there but no doubt lost in the expanse.

Update on This time last year.

This time last year the contractors were storming on and the new reception and admin offices were having their foundations laid so now we had 2 buildings to have a go at as you can see from the picture.

Thats a lot of insulation to put in the floor.
